First Visit

First Visit During your first visit, Dr. Moe will review your complete medical and dental history with you. It's extremely important for Dr. Moe to know if you are taking any medications or being treated for any condition that can affect your periodontal care. You will be given a complete oral and periodontal exam. Dr. Moe will examine your gums, check to see if there is any gum line recession, assess how your teeth fit together when you bite and check your teeth to see if any are loose. Dr. Moe will also take a small measuring instrument and place it between your teeth and gums to determine the depth of those spaces, known as periodontal pockets. This helps Dr. Moe assess the health of your gums. Radiographs (x-rays) may be used to show the bone levels between your teeth to check for possible bone loss.

Your general dentist has asked us to join their team to help his/her office in allowing you to achieve optimal dental health. At every step in your periodontal/implant therapy, our office will be in close contact with your general dentist. This will help us plan and coordinate your care so your treatment will proceed as smoothly and easily as possible. Following the "active" phase of treatment you will return to your general dentist for all needed restorative and prosthetic dentistry. Although we will provide suggestions and recommendations, your general dentist (and you) will make the final determinations as to any fillings, crowns, bridges, etc., you may need. We will also determine the most appropriate maintenance schedule for you. This almost always involves both our office and your general dentist.
